Ralph O'Brien

OREGON-Ralph OBrien, age 85, died on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Evansville Manor. He was born on May 31, 1923, to Phil and Matilda Schwartz. Ralph spent his entire life on the farm established in 1861 by his grandfather, Cornelius OBrien. Ralph attended Locust Grove Rural School at the intersection of Locust Grove Road and Glenway Road through sixth grade. He graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1941. On June 6, 1959, he married Margaret "Peg" Lally at Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church in Oregon. He is survived by his wife, Peg; his daughter, Maureen; sons, Denis and Kevin all of Brooklyn; two grandchildren, Lacey and Chase OBrien of Madison; and a nephew Michael OBrien (Lynn) of DeForest. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Mary in 1984; son Patrick in 1992 and son Phillip in 2003; and a brother Robert (Betty). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon with Father Bill Connell presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A private burial will be held at St. Marys Cemetery. Special thanks to the dedicated nurses and staff at Evansville Manor and Rock County Hospice for their wonderful care of Ralph.
