Obituary

Miller, Edna MADISON-Edna Miller, age 88, died peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was born in Manitowoc, on Nov. 4, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Kimmel) Fricke. Edna married Ralph Miller on Jan. 14, 1950. They were married for 49 years. Edna was employed at Oscar Mayer for 15 years, then as a crossing guard for the city of Madison. For many years, she sang in the choir at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. Edna enjoyed wildlife, fishing, playing cards, reading, special music and loved her family and friends visits. She especially enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels and opossum, and taking care of her vegetable and flower gardens. Edna is survived by her four children, Janine Ashworth of Madison, Jim (LouAnn) Miller of McFarland, Pat (Welling) Marlow of Monona, and Judy Zielke of McFarland; 13 grandchildren, Parker (Christina) Ashworth, Erica Miller, Crystal Miller, Barb (James) Davis, Sandy (Mike) Allen, Cheri (Bob) Smith, Cathy (Joe Allen) Tollund, Steve (Bridgitt) Zielke, Maria (Dave) Martinez, Cheryl Gile, Leslie Davis, Mark Davis, and Becky (George) Curtis; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alice Sherman and Ethel Seely; a brother, Allen (Bernie) Fricke; sister-in-law, Gloria Fricke; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph; daughter, Sandy Davis; a grandson, Michael Tollund; two sisters; and three brothers. A gathering of family and friends will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009. Burial will be at Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga, MN. A special thank you to Meriter Hospital and HospiceCare Center for their kindness and care of our mother.
