Hinz, Steven S. "Goose"
MADISON-Steven S. "Goose" Hinz, age 41, passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, after a long illness. He was born to Gerald "Jerry" Hinz and Pamela Harrop on Oct. 14, 1967. Steve graduated from LaFollette with the class of 1985. He worked as an apprentice at McCullough Plumbing and continued until he received his master plumbing and design/build license. Then in 2003, Goose began his own business, Gander Plumbing. He was an avid hunter and also loved to fish. Steve enjoyed the time spent with his children. He taught his daughter, Cortney, to fish; he helped his sons, Jerid and Bradley "invent" things and to hunt. Together they all enjoyed his cooking and time spent together. He is survived by his fianc, Erica Lubcke; his children, Cortney, Jerid and Bradley and their mothers, Sissy Haskins and Teresa Hinz; his father, Jerry Hinz (Diane); mother, Pamela (Darrel) Timler; maternal grandparents, Harold and Martha Bank; sister, Christina Hinz; brother, Brian (Stacie) Hinz; step-sister, Dianna Timler; step-brothers, Dean Timler, David (Kim) Timler, Darrin Timler; and many nieces and nephews. Steve is survived by Erica's family; her parents, Terry (Jan) Lubcke; sister, Betsy Lubcke; and further survived by extended family, close friends and business associates. Steve also leaves behind his dogs, Copper, Winnie & Walter. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred Hinz and Ida Mae "Grandma Baraboo" Hinz. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 8, 2009. Visitation will be at at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an account established at Associated Bank for Steve's children's Educational Fund.

Our family felt very close to Steve. He became a wonderful friend and made our grandchildren always feel special when he was with them. When our son was hurt Steve was one of the first people to help. To help others is what Steve always did. This is a great sadness for so many. Mari & Richard Grasmick
