Richard Edwin 'Dick' Derauf

Derauf, Richard Edwin "Dick"MADISON - Richard Edwin "Dick" Derauf, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, after a prolonged illness. He was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Dr. Benjamin and Harriet (Evensta) Derauf. He married Nancy Irgens on June 16, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minn. Dick graduated high school from the Breck School in St. Paul, Minn. and continued his education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., majoring in business and accounting. Dick enjoyed serving his customers in the packaging business for the past 53 years and was most recently employed at Dairyland Packaging. Dick was very active in his community and participated in the following organizations: Madison Elks Club, Madison East-Monona Rotary Club, Cherokee Country Club, Lake Wisconsin Country Club, East Side Hockey Association and Madison Speed Skating Club. He was also a member of Our Saviour\'s Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. Dick enjoyed playing golf, traveling, visiting with his customers, attending UW sporting events, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; four children, Liz (Tom) Odgren of Middleton, Rick (Janet) Derauf of Houston, Texas, Peter (Lori) Derauf of Waunakee, and Kathryn (Jeff Olson) Derauf of Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Peter, Elyse, Katie, Brad, Kelly, Haley, Sam, Cora and Luke; brothers, Ben (Mildred) Derauf, and Dr. Don (Alma) Derauf; brother-in-law, Roy (Marie) Peregrine; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Peregrine; and sister-in-law, Marion Derauf. Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOR\'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie, on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Julie Krahn officiating. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and also on Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison East-Monona Rotary Club (scholarship fund) or the UW Carbone Cancer Center. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Davis and his staff, as well as the Oak Park Place staff for their dedicated care.
