PhotoAllison, Julie C.Madison - Julie C. Allison, age 51, passed away peacefully on Saturday,September 19, 2009 surrounded by her loved ones, ending a battle that she has fought valiantly. She was born on December 1, 1957 the daughter of Jack and Peggy Canning in DePere, Wisc. Julie graduated with the class of 1974 from St. Norbert's Catholic School in DePere, Wisc. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she continued her studies, eventually receiving a Master's in Social Work. There, she met Duncan Allison, and they were united in marriage on August 20, 1984. Together they raised two beautiful children, Cassandra and Justin. During her career, Julie worked as a social worker for many school districts throughout Dane County, making an impact on the lives of children she saw everyday. When she wasn't working, Julie enjoyed sewing, swimming and volunteering her time and efforts to assist with elementary children and senior citizens. She was most proud of her family and loved spending time at their family cabin on Squam Lake in New Hampshire. Throughout her life, Julie never gave up the fight against her disease, and whose compassion, warmth and kindness were known to anyone she met. She is survived by her husband, Duncan Allison; daughter, Cassandra Allison of Madison; son, Justin Allison of Madison; sisters, Kathleen Canning of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Sheila Canning of Madison and further survived by nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.
