Obituary
Thomas (Tom) James Stamstad passed away on October 2, 2009 at UW Hospital.
Tom was born on January 30, 1967 in Baraboo, Wisconsin to Robert and Mary Stamstad. After graduating from West High School in Madison, Tom attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison since 1986. He most recently worked in the Infectious Disease Research Lab for Dr. William Craig and Dr. Dave Andes where he had many caring friends.
Tom was an avid fisherman and fished trout streams around the state. He was an expert fly fisherman and for many years made an annual trip to Livingston, Montana to the Dupuy Spring Creek and Yellowstone River with his father and friends. Tom was a devoted son, brother, partner, uncle, and friend. He was a kind, loving, and generous person who was loved by his many family and friends. Tom loved nature and animals including his mothers dogs Selma and Sugar and his cats Reginald and Baxter. He found happiness with his partner Kim with whom he shared five wonderful years.
Tom is survived by his parents, Robert Stamstad of Amherst Junction, WI and Mary Stamstad of Madison; his partner Kim Crowell of Madison; his sister Cynthia (James Whitman) of Bellevue, WA and his brother John (Julie Blackwell) of Seattle, WA; his nieces and nephews Eli Stamstad of Milford, OH, and Maisie and Tucker Stamstad of Seattle, WA; his friend and former sister-in-law Karla Korra of Milford, OH; and several aunts, uncles, cousins; and many friends.
We want to especially thank Dr. Maki and his dedicated team of doctors, including Dr. Johanna , and all of the nurses and other staff in the TLC and cardiac units who worked tirelessly to save his life and take special care of him from the time he entered the hospital on September 30 until his death.
