Funk, John DavidPORT ANGELES, WASHINGTON.-John David Funk, age 70, died at his home on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, in Port Angeles, Washington. He was born on September 18, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri., to N. Howard and Bernice Funk. John graduated from Kirkwood, Missouri, High School, and studied as an undergraduate and graduate at the University of Chicago, receiving an M.B.A. In his career as a financial manager and certified public accountant, he worked for the Northern Trust Bank and Price Waterhouse in Chicago, Illinois, the Environmental Protection Agency in Springfield, Illinois, Rockford (Illinois) Memorial Hospital, and WPS in Madison, Wisconsin. His many interests included farming, beekeeping, sailing, traveling, hiking and scuba diving. He assisted with eye and medical clinics in the Philippines. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Zor Shrine, and served on the board of the American Red Cross in Madison. He spent his last eight years as a resident of Port Angeles, where he was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. John is survived by his son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Rochelle of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and their children, Lynnae, Zachary, Simeon, Micah and Karis; by his son, Adam of Seattle, Washington, and his daughter, Elizabeth of Madison, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his former spouses, Nathalie Ostroot of Aix-en-Provence, France, and Shirley Funk of Madison, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at 11 a.m., at HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 301 E. Lopez St., Port Angeles, Washington, followed by a reception. The family requests that any gifts be made to the American Red Cross or to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
