Gorak, Ruth I. Mohaney MADISON-Ruth I. Mohaney Gorak, age 95, of Madison, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at HospiceCare. She was born on June 13, 1914, in Barry, Ill., the daughter of George and Hazel (Dudley) Fisher. In 1931, Ruth was crowned Miss Madison. She married Carl Mohaney on Aug. 27, 1935, in Rockford, Ill. Ruth and Carl were married for 56 years. After Carl's passing, she married Ed Gorak. Ruth worked at Manchester's Department Store for 33 years. She was a wonderful cook and had a flair for art. Ruth was a member of Bethany Evangelical Free Church. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was a kind and generous woman. She is survived by her son, C. David (Virginia) Mohaney; grandchildren, Cindy, Suzanne, David, and Lynn; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas, Devyn, Dylan, Tyler, and Mykayla; brothers, Robert (Bronia) Smith, Jack (Sharon) Smith, and Donald (Zannie) Smith; sister, Diane (Roger) Moyer; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl; second husband, Ed; great-granddaughter, Emily; and brothers, Dudley Fisher and William Smith. Funeral services will be held at BETHANY EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 301 Riverside Dr., Madison, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, with Pastor David Carlson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Private entombment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to Bethany Evangelical Free Church or to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Meadowmere Assisted Living of Madison, and her special friend, Bill Frome. Also, special thanks to HospiceCare for their compassionate care. Memorials: Memorials can be made to Bethany Evangelical Free Church or to the charity of your choice. I, as well as some of the folks at Meadowmere where I am an entertainer there, knew her as Ruthie. When I would sing at Meadowmere, Ruthie would always let me know just how much she enjoyed my singing which I appreciated so much. She was a very sweet little lady.
