George William Bendrick

Bendrick, George WilliamWAUNAKEE/DEFOREST-George William Bendrick, age 88, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Waunakee Manor. He was born on Jan. 14, 1921, in Junction City, the son of Joseph and Anna (Smrz) Bendrick. George married Marjorie Guralske on Oct. 18, 1947 in Wausau. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. George worked as a state trooper for the state of Wisconsin, and for the Wisconsin Division of Health until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, dog training, hunting, and fishing. George enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of DeForest; children, Jerry (Lana) Bendrick of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bob (Laura) Bendrick of Cheyenne, Wyo., Nancy (John) Pearson of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Pat (Rene) Bendrick of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Ginger Burke of Rhinelander. George was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Bendrick in 1969; brothers, William, Bill, and Jim Bendrick; and sisters, Ann Prahl and Evelyn Mayer. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Jefferson St., DeForest, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, with Father Gary Wankerl presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Waunakee Manor for the care they gave George.
