To Terri and the kids, I am so very sorry for you. This is a terrible loss. I admired Jeff greatly. He was an honest and excellent scientist and person with a great depth of personality. In the years he was here in Physiology he added greatly to the intellectual and personal life of the department in many positive ways. His research was superb, his relationship with his graduates students was exemplary and always fun, his teaching of grad students and undergraduates was of the highest quality. He brought international esteem to the department. Also he was a warm person who I personally am very sad to lose. I was looking forward to him beating me at golf next year! Peter Lipton
