Obituary
MADISON - Marcia Lucille Ogden, age 90 of Madison, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Hebron Oaks in Oakwood Village West in Madison. After many long years of suffering from Alzheimer\'s disease, God has taken her home. She was born November 12, 1919 in Blunt, South Dakota, the daughter of Art and Della (Edge) Miller. She was united in marriage to James Robert (Bob) Ogden on February 7, 1937 in Pierre, South Dakota. Soon thereafter, Marcia\'s family and Bob moved to the Platteville, Wisconsin area during the Depression. Marcia and Bob began their Wisconsin life as farmers for several years in the Platteville area. Employment at the Sauk County Home in Reedsburg, Wisconsin followed. Later the family moved to Lebanon, Ohio where Marcia worked with her husband in institutional food services. In 1961 she and her family returned to Madison, Wisconsin. From 1965-1974 she worked in food services as the baker at Oakwood Village\'s Hebron Oaks Nursing Home, while husband Bob was the head chef. At Oakwood they lived in one of the picturesque \"cottages\" on the grounds. Following retirement she enjoyed her grandchildren and travel. She is survived by two daughters, Iva Jean (Marion) Mathias of Madison Wisconsin, and Jeanette (Ted) Koch of Verona, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Robyn (Mathias) Spease, Pamela Mathias, Kimberly (Mathias) Pluss, Keith Mathias, David Mathias, James Mathias, Lisa (Koch) Schuster, and Ryan Koch, plus 96 foster grandchildren who knew her as \"Grandma\"; two sisters, Evelyn (Raymond) Moore of Little River, Texas, and Dorothy (Roy) Gardenier of Madison, and a brother Roy (Rosalie) Miller of Powell, Wyoming, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a daughter, Jacqueline, the twin of Jeanette, who died at birth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., February 26, in Resurrection Chapel at Oakwood Village West, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service at Oakwood. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Oakwood Village and its dedicated staff for the many years of spiritually inspired care offered to Marcia at a place that held a special spot in her heart.
