Schlimgen, Maurice L. "Moe"
MONONA-Maurice L."Moe" Schlimgen, age 82, of Monona, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. He was born on Aug. 25, 1927, in Madison, the son of Engelbert and Veronica Schlimgen. He married Mary Hines on Oct. 8, 1949. Moe served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Moe was co-owner of the Ohio Tavern and worked for Rowley-Schlimgen until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He used his Naval skills to navigate the SS Schlimgen on Lake Monona in search of the elusive bluegill. Moe was loved by all who knew him and will forever be known for his great sense of humor and smile. He always loved his dogs as well as provided treats for all the neighborhood dogs. Moe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; three children, Steve (Carol), Kari (Dan Piorier) Schlimgen and Chuck (Donna); daughter-in-law, Kathy; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Fritz (Fran) Schlimgen, Mary (Darv) Esser and Virginia (Ed) Sanborn. He was preceded in death by his son, David; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor Rowley and Joe Rowley. A celebration of Moe's life will take place at EASTSIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Drive, Monona, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010. A special thanks fo Dr. Calvin Bruce for his care and friendship over the years.
