Photo/FlagMcDonald, Bernard J. MacMADISON-Bernard J. Mac McDonald, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the HospiceCare Center. He was born on Dec. 15, 1927, in Mineral Point, the son of Edward and Mary (Morris) McDonald. Bernard served in the U. S. Army from 1951 until 1952. He married Esther Pulsfus on Oct. 17, 1953. Bernard worked for Wolff Kubly & Hirsig, Dairy Equipment, and owned and operated a janitorial service. He was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. Bernard enjoyed camping with his motorhome, tinkering, and taking long walks. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Esther; children, Dennis (Ginnell) of Madison, Linda (Richard) Bernstein of Madison, Mary Schaefer (Denny Tollefson) of Poynette, and Mark (Rachel) of Menomonee Falls; grandchildren, Nicholas and Kevin McDonald, Abbey and Tracey Bernstein, and Jacob and Megan McDonald; a brother, Joseph (Carol) McDonald of Madison; sisters-in-law, Virginia McDonald of Cottage Grove, Joanne McDonald of Madison, Joan Klein of Madison, and Judy McDonald of Janesville; and several nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Edward, Leo, Francis and Paul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc.
