McGibbon, Louise
OREGON-Louise McGibbon, age 95, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at her home with family at her side. She was born on Sept. 2, 1914, in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, Canada. Louise taught school for three years in New Brunswick prior to her marriage. She married William Henry McGibbon on Aug. 26, 1936, in Harvey Station. They moved to Wisconsin in 1938, when Henry began his graduate studies in poultry genetics at the University of Wisconsin. They spent the next 14 years in Madison, as a faculty couple with a growing family. In 1951, they moved to a farm in Fitchburg with a family that continued to grow. Louise was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and she later moved to Oregon. Louise is survived by seven children, Ann McGibbon of Oregon and her children, Thomas, Mary, Nancy and Daniel, William (Carol) of Dexter, Mich. and their children, Amy and Andrew, Charles (Rebecca Treiman) of St. Louis, Mo. and their children, Joseph and Robert, Frances (Roger) Block of Argyle and their children, Rebecca and Christopher, Frederick (Sarah) of Fitchburg and their daughter, Lily, John (Jina) of Boxboro, Mass. and their children, Jason and Jennifer, and Phyllis (Mark Wilson) McGibbon of Wellesley, Mass. 14 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Sarah, Ethan, Sarah, Elizabeth, Haley, Isaac, Gunner, Grace, Courtney, Vivian, Elliott and Jeremy; and other relatives in Canada. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her four siblings; Dorothy, Phyllis, Marshall and Ida. Funeral services will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 172 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, with the Rev. Jessica Scholten presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
