Obituary
Krueger, Richard E. "Dick"OREGON - Richard E. "Dick" Krueger passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2010, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Dick was born on April 3, 1940, with a twin brother, William, the son of Edward and Hazel (Keehn) Krueger . He retired from the Oregon Municipal Department after 31 years of service to the community. Dick, a devoted bachelor, enjoyed working his large garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He spent a lot of his spare time at the feed mill watching the seed go out in the spring, and the grain wagons return in the fall. Dick also enjoyed his summertime fishing trips with his brother, Larry, and Larry's family. Friday night brought the anticipated fish fry, along with competitive euchre games with brother, Larry, sister, Ruth and sister-in-law, Connie. Occasional weekend travel to casinos around the state were the most enjoyable times for Dick. He would love to see the countryside and enjoy gambling along the way. Dick's health declined over the past two years with one surgery after another. During this time his niece, Angela and nephew, Gary were invaluable to him, making sure he got to doctors' appointments and taking care of his needs, from mowing grass to meals, housecleaning, laundry and shoveling snow. Dick is survived by his sisters, Ruth Elmer of Oregon, and Pauline (Bill) Blum of Monroe; brother, Larry (Connie) Krueger of Verona; brother-in-law, William Fiedler of Stoughton;along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel; brother, William; sisters, Leona Truax and Charlene Fiedler; and brother-in-law, Clifford Elmer. A memorial visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Home Health United, the Anderson HospiceCare Center and the people there, who cared for him in the end. Dick will surely be missed by all who knew him.
