Obituary
AVOCA/ MADISON- Eugene M. Brownie Brown, age 87, of Madison, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 30, 2010. He was born on March 23, 1923, in Avoca, the son of Michael and Ellen (Dunbar) Brown. Brownie married Mary Catherine Adams on Nov. 9, 1946, in Muscoda. He attended school in Avoca. Brownie moved to Madison and worked for Oscar Mayer as a truck driver for 42 years. Brownie was very proud of his safe driving record. He was an avid bowler and euchre player. Brownie loved his weekends spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on the Wisconsin river. He was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church. After his retirement from Oscar Mayer, Brownie continued to drive truck with his truck driver buddies. His children and grandchildren were the joys of his life. Brownie is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Joyce; son, Joe (Jane) Brown of Iowa; grandchildren, Ian Joyce and Ryan and Erin Brown; sisters-in-law, Jean Jorgenson, Alice McGaw and Joan Adams; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; sisters, Dorothy Heuer, Mary Geller and Betty Bram; and brother, John Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2438 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Muscoda. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Oakwood Village West and HospiceCare.
Cemetery:
Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Muscoda.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
Service:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2438 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding.
