Clarence Eugene 'Bud' Halvorsen

MADISON-Clarence Eugene "Bud" Halvorsen, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 15, 1930, in Madison, the son of Clarence and Ellen (Ray) Halvorsen. Bud graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1948. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Maynard on Oct. 21, 1950. Bud was in the Naval Reserves for 16 years. He worked at Webcrafters, retiring after 45 years. Bud enjoyed golfing, bowling, his pool league, playing cards and his many trips to Las Vegas. He especially enjoyed traveling and going cross country with his young family. Bud was a former member of the Moose Club. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 60 years; sons, John (Jean) Halvorsen of Silver Cliff, and David (Gloria) Halvorsen of Madison; daughter, Sharon (Gary) Ring of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren, Christopher (Kris) Ring, Jason (Lori) Halvorsen, Brian (Jessi) Ring, Richard Halvorsen and Lisa (Brent) Cherry; three step-grandchildren, Renee, Rochel and Ryan Smith; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Shirley (Bob) Sorenson; brother, Richard (Sabra) Halvorsen; brother-in-law, Robert (Renate) Maynard; many nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Charlie. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry in 2004; and sister, Virginia Condon, on May 26, 2010. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug, 9, 2010. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Monday. A special thank you to Dr. Shropshire, Dr. Adib, and Dr. Hegeman.
