Obituary

Shade, Genevieve Ruth (Haase) MADISON-Genevieve Ruth (Haase) Shade was born into this world on Feb. 11, 1923, and born to eternal life on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. She leaves to join her Savior and spiritual brother, Jesus Christ, as well as her parents, Glenn and Ruth; her husband, Albert; and son, Al Junior. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John and Lyle; grandsons, Cory Walker and Eric Shade; and numerous other relatives. She is survived by her remaining children, Glenda Walker, Harlind (JoAnn) Shade, Jan (Chris) Shade, Brian Shade, Caryl Shade, Ralph Shade and Al Jrs wife, Ruth Maxine Shade. She is mourned by her surviving grandchildren, Harley, Lisa, Erica, Toni, Shannan, Carolyn, Emily, Joseph, Allie, Marcus and Lili. She also leaves six great-grandchildren. She is further remembered by her brother, Clarence; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Genny spent her early adult life as a ministers wife after attending Minnesota Bible College. She used her musical ability to sing, play piano, organ, violin and accordion to the glory of God. She continued in a life of service to her church and family for the rest of her days. She was an active, devoted member of First Christian Church, then Community Christian Church, as a choir member, Deaconess, Sunday school teacher and worship accompanist. Her faith was passed on to her children and all around by her word and example. Genny returned to school later in life to prepare for work outside the home. She worked at Methodist Hospital, Wisconsin Department of Revenue and retired from the Department of Natural Resources. She was proud of the work she was able to do to help preserve Wisconsins resources for future generations. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, with the Rev. Bob Lawrence presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held privately for family members. The family would like to express its gratitude to the caring staff at Trinity Senior Living for their years of helping Genny and to Dane County Hospice for their assistance at the end.
