Obituary
MONONA - Robert J. Pulling Sr., age 89, of Monona passed away at home with his large and loving family by his side on Sunday, July 25, 2010. He was born on Aug. 15, 1920 in Chicago, the son of Harry and Martha (Adams) Pulling. Robert was a pilot in the U.S. Air force when he married Doris Larson on Aug. 14, 1942 in Phoenix, Ariz. He served his country from 1942 to 1945 during World War II as an instructor in Training Command. Robert was a partner in Midwest Insurance Agency until his retirement at the age of 64, in 1984. Robert was a member of Independent Insurance Agents of Madison, (president 1964), and Monona Grove Business Mens Association, (president 1965). He was also a member of The Quiet Birdmen, East Madison/Monona Optimist Club, Elks Club (life member), and Lake Edge UCC since 1953. Robert was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop No. 24, and served with the Four Lakes Council of The Boy Scouts of America. Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Doris; children, Robert Pulling Jr., Nancy (Emil) Loether, and Deborah (Jim) Wienke;grand-children, Jason (Tricia), Gabe and Shane Pulling, Nicole (Ray) Ragonese, Natalie, Andy (Valerie), and Tyler (Kristy) Bovre, Breanna, Austin, Erica and Robert Wienke; great-grandchildren, Casey, Rachel and Josh Pulling, Benicio Ragonese, Gavin and Gracie Bovre; sister, Emily Casper;and special dog, Sassafras \"Sassy\". He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Martha Nichols. Private services will be held. A vistation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Memorials may be made in Roberts name to The Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 146, or HospiceCare. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to HospiceCare and especially to hospice nurse, Meagan Rompre, for the wonderful and loving care they gave Robert.
