Darwin L.J. 'Red' Moran

MADISON - Darwin L.J. "Red" Moran, passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 7, 2010, at the age of 85. He was born on Oct. 4, 1924, in Sun Prairie, the son of John and Edith Moran. Darwin served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and upon his return, he met his wife to be, Elaine Sparks. They were wed on Oct. 12, 1946, in Madison. He worked for Oscar Mayer for 38 years and retired in 1984. Darwin is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Elaine; his children, Steven (Janice) Moran, Connie Melter, Susan (Mike) Meyer, and Joni (Lucas) Bernau; nine loving grandchildren, as well as nine great-grandchildren; his sisters, Zellorean, Mildred and Malcile; and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Curtis, Virgil, and Arthur; and sisters, Charlotte, Marcella and Maxine. There will be a private service, and his wish was to be returned to the place he loved, northern Wisconsin. He said he wants to go back for all the fishing lures he lost in the bays of Lake Minocqua.
