Obituary
JANESVILLE- Alvin M. Anderson, age 102, son of Albert and Betsy (Halverson) Anderson, was born on Dec. 6, 1907, in the Christiana area, and died at home in Janesville on Oct. 1, 2010. He had lived most of his life in the Stoughton-Edgerton-Utica area, moving to Janesville in later life. In the 1930\'s he and his brother, Palmer, drove semi trucks through the eastern and southern states for Lee Brothers of Chicago. In 1942, he was inducted into the Army, serving in the Infantry in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Anzio until the end of the war, returning home in the fall of 1945. In 1948, he married Gertrude (Trudy) Weitzel of Baraboo, and they lived on the Utica family farm until 1956, when they moved to Stoughton to live in the barn they remodeled at the east end of Ridge Street. Trudy passed on in 1981. In 1984, he married Lina Mooney of Janesville. He is survived by his second wife, Lina; stepsons, Edward Ames of Milwaukee and Terry (June) Ames of Elkhorn; sister, Alice Johnson of Stoughton; nieces; nephews; grand nieces; grand nephews; and many wonderful friends and neighbors. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Trudy; his brother, Palmer; sister, Eunice; maternal grandparents, Margit and Ansten Halverson; and paternal grandparents, Anton and Martha Anderson. Alvin was a hard working man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at the EASTSIDE LUTHERAN CEMETERY, Stoughton, at 11 am on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. Memorial services will be held at the MOOSE LODGE, 2701 W. Rockport Road, Janesville at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Mr. Anderson was such a joy in my practice. I wish I would have had more time to listen to his life stories. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Lina, an exceptional person in her own right!
