Joseph C. 'Joe' Hillebrand

Hillebrand, Joseph C. "Joe"CROSS PLAINS - Joseph C. "Joe" Hillebrand, age79, of Cross Plains, passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010. He was born on May 23, 1931, the son of John I. and Ida (Schulenberg) Hillebrand. Joe served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Virginia "Gini" E. Norslien on June 3, 1952. Joe began his career as a Master Plumber in 1954. He worked for Capital Sand & Gravel in Cross Plains for more than 40 years and owned and operated J&S security for 15 years. Joe was a member of Operating Engineers Local 139, American Legion Post 245, and Catholic Knights of Columbus. Joe is survived by his wifeof 58 years, Gini Hillebrand; six children, Roger (Barb) of Belleville, Rick (Debby) of Madison, Steven (Patty), Kathy (Greg) Roessler, J. Timothy (Donna), and Todd, all of Cross Plains; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerome and Edward (Elizabeth); special "brother", Merle Derpinghaus; and in-laws, Harold Norslien, Nancy Norslien, Linda (Tom) Watkins and Jeanne Hillebrand. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Karen; brothers, Norbert and Herbert; and brother-in-law, Denny Norslien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, October 11, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Legion Post 245, or to the charity of your choice.
