Obituary

MADISON- Eileen "Tootie" McDonald passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Legacy Gardens of Madison. She was born in Reedsburg, on Sept. 22, 1921, to Arthur and Balbina Gibbs. Eileen was a lifelong resident of Madison, graduating from Madison East High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Duane McDonald on June 11, 1943, in Charlotte, NC. Tootie was employed by Oscar Mayer for 33 years, retiring in 1980. She and Duane enjoyed 58 years of fun and travel, vacationing all over the United States and to many foreign countries. They also had many fun times at their weekend retreat in Merrimac, on Lake Wisconsin, as well as many winters in Arizona spending time with friends and family. Eileen had several interests including playing cards, reading and baking. Eileen was also a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 8483, the Elks Club and the Oscar Mayer R.E.D.I. group, where she volunteered her time to others. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Richard) Schwenk of Windsor; grandson, Chad(Amy) Schwenk of Windsor; great-grandchildren, Christina Miller and Stephanie Miller of Windsor; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her parents; and brother, Kenneth Gibbs. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, with Monsignor Charles Schluter presiding. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until time of service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare Inc, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI. 53711.
