Obituary

MONONA Arden Sandy Sandsnes, age 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin. Arden was born May 21, 1934, in Westby, the son of Alf and Beverly Sandsnes. Sandy attended Medford High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He was CEO of Royal Oak Engineering, Madison, until his retirement. Sandy was a long-time member of the Madison Sports Car Club and past President of the Midwest Council of Sports Car Clubs. He was a member of the Madison Area Surveyors Council and past President of Wisconsin Society of Professional Land Surveyors. Arden served on the Governors Land Information Board and the Wisconsin Land Records Committee. Arden was preceded in death by his son, Christian; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Reeta (Smith); sons, Carl and Eric Sandsnes; daughter, Terri Zimmerman; daughter-in-law, Ronda Sandsnes; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah), Michael (Melissa) and Donald Sandsnes, Chad Zimmerman (Jessica) and Christine (Michael) Paisant; five great-grandchildren; and many friends. Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, with Reverend Jerry Amstutz presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Society of Professional Land Surveyors Education Fund. I learned much about surveying, land developement and integrity from Sandy. He always asked questions and was willing to approach problems from every angle possible. A great man that will be missed.

sandy helped 3 teachers develop meadow grove subdivision in cottage grove in the mid 70s...he was always very genial and helpful throughout the process with 3 novices...thanx sandy... joe blum
