To Aunt Helen and my cousins,
My sympathy to all of you.
Uncle Jack was a special man and loved
my many. I will always remember his canny sense of humor and his Irish charm!
Love,
Michelle

I worked with Jack at the Vocational Studies Center in the late ‘70s. The work could be stressful so, every once in a while after work on Friday, him and I would go to an establishment down the street (I think it is where Pigwick Papers is now) for a beer and vent. On one cold winter night we ate there too and left later than usual. Problem was Jack couldn’t remember where he had parked his car. We walked around for a good ½ hour before we found it. On Monday I asked him if his wife said anything to him and he replied “Nope and I don’t anticipate her saying anything to me for a while.” In the winter I remember Jack wearing a big jacket and a too small stocking cap perched on the top of his head. And I think one of his happiest days at the Center was when I introduced him to Taco Grande. He loved the combo. He had the rare combination of down-to-earth blue color sensibilities and intellect. See ya Jack.

Just like my husband Tom above, I worked with Jack at the Center, too. Jack always made me laugh, and treated me like his daughter. It's funny to think I'm the same age now as he was then. I told Tom this morning that once Jack and I had to drop off some work papers somewhere out of town (I don't quite remember where) but he spent the drive talking to me like he would have to his kids- making sure I knew what I was getting into marrying Tom :), and basically just giving me a father/daughter talk about life. I've thought of this ride and his kindness many times over the years, and I think he would be proud to know we are still married 26 years later. You were a good man, Jack- you embodied good husband and father, and the world is a little bit less goofy without you in it.
