Obituary
OREGON - Eileen M. Olson passed away at home, on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, with her family by her side. Eileen was born on Jan. 15, 1925, to Charles "Mooney" and Loretta McCann. Eileen graduated from Oregon High School in 1943. On June 7, 1947, she married Robert J. Olson and together raised their family in the home they built on Lincoln Street. Eileen enjoyed a rewarding career with the Oregon Post Office that spanned twenty plus years. After a very brief retirement period, she had the opportunity to join the local Kwik Trip where she spent nineteen years and became affectionately known by all as the "coffee lady." She enjoyed each day seeing old friends and making many new ones until her retirement in 2010. Eileen is survived by her loving family whom she proudly raised, Tom (Lana) Olson of Brooklyn, Nancy Olson of Madison, Patti (Leo) Mattern of Oregon, Jim (Marlene) Olson of Brooklyn, and Scott (Deanna) Olson of Madison; seven grandchildren, Keith Olson, Missy Owens, Lauren Olson, Cole Olson, Cassie Frey, Kelli Olson and Aaron Olson; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Rion; and her two sisters, Janet (Jack) Sheil of Sun Prairie and Mary (Jake) Brumley of Topeka, Kan. and their families. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert; and her parents, Charles and Loretta McCann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 North Main Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, with Father Gary Wankerl presiding. The family will hold a private burial immediately following the service at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, with a scripture service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the church. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ellen Hartenbach and staff of the Carbone Cancer Center, at UW Hospital and Clinic for their exceptional care and support, and to Dr. Beth Potter of the Wingra Clinic, her long time personal physician. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eileen's name to Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church, Oregon. Eileen will be missed not only by her family, but by everyone whose life she touched. Love you Mom and Grandma!

You taught us all valuable lessons on how to live life every day and we will never be able to do it with the same grace and poise as you have shwon all these years. We love you and miss you and look forward until we can all be together again!

I cannot express just how saddened our entire family is of Eileen's passing. We too knew her as "Eileen, the coffee lady " and we looked forward to seeing her several mornings a week on our way into Madison for a cuppa joe. She NEVER forgot to ask my teenager about his school/sport events, especially how he was enjoying his skiing. She was beautiful inside and out and we were sad when she retired from coffee duty at the Kwik Trip but happy she wouldn't have to be on a work schedule. Having had Dr. Ellen Hartenbach treat myself for ovarian cancer over 9 years ago, I know Eileen was in the best of hands - God must need her up in Heaven with him and her husband and we will wait to see her sweet face when the time comes for us to join her there. Our prayers are with her family - she was a one of a kind and our family was blessed to have known her. Teri Schuman and Family
