Obituary

Kristen L. (Baltes) Norman, age 42, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. She was born on July 27, 1968, in Madison, the daughter of Richard Baltes and Patricia Grosse. After graduating from Middleton High School in 1986, Kristen earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She married Darrin Norman on April 4, 2005, in the Dominican Republic where they shared with family and friends a beautiful tropical wedding. Kristen was very caring and trusting and made the most of those qualities working with developmentally disabled adults at Advanced Employment. She enjoyed traveling, sharing times and laughs with her friends, and was naturally savvy with fashion and decorating, but Kristen treasured most her husband and the care and daily walks with her dogs, CJ and Iko. In addition to her husband Darrin, survivors include her mother, Patricia Grosse; her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca (Baltes) and Ryan Rogers and their daughters Ava and Ali; her mother and father-in-law, Darlene and David Norman; her brothers-in-law, Derek, Dirk (Patricia) and Devlin (Anne Jensen) Norman; her step-mother, Jacquelyn Baltes, a step-sister, Julie Ann (Greg) Wells, and two step-brothers; Scott (Angela) Benson and Rodney (Kim) Benson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard in 2007; and her grandparents, Jerry and Bernetta Grosse, and Edwin and Josephine Baltes. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Visitation will be from noon until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. We are very thankful for the years and memories with Kristen, and she will forever be in our hearts and thoughts, knowing she is at peace. Visitation: Visitation will be from noon until 2:30 pm on Weds. at the funeral home. Service: Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 3:00 pm on Weds., Nov. 17, 2010 with Monsignor Douglas Duschack presiding

I'm so sad for your loss. There is no book for grieving. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. People are going to say some dumb things. I truly believe they don't mean to. Please try & ignore these words. SOS is great org, it helps. The hardest part is getting out of your car, & going in. You are not pressured to talk. It just really helps to know your not alone, & what your feeling is normal. I'd like to suggest a book. It's called "my son, my son" I had a extra copy but, I gave it to a woman at work who needed it. The stigma really sucks. Hopefully someday people will realize it is a medical condition. Take care.... Take care
