Obituary
Staebell, Germain "Jerry"
MONONA-Germain "Jerry" Staebell passed away on Dec. 2, 2010. He was born July 7, 1927 on a small farm near Parker, S. D. to Joseph I. and Victoria V. (Gross) Staebell. In 1942, the family moved to Madison where Jerry worked for a few years at Montgomery Ward as a sales clerk. He attended the U.W. for 2 years; worked at the old Bank of Madison as a teller for 5 years; and then as a stock clerk at Bill Goff Office Supply (where he found his future wife). Finally he discovered his niche when he started work at Research Products Corp. in 1952. He spent the next 39 years there and loved it primarily because of the great people he worked with. Jerry retired in 1992 and continued to pursue his interest in old radio shows. He had a large collection of shows and loved to give talks to the elderly and to historical societies. He married Jan Lee Sime in 1953 in St. Bernards Church in Madison with Monsignor Eggars presiding. He was preceded in death by: his wife, mother, father, brother (Bob), and brother-in-law (Tom Rigney). He is survived by his children Judy (Hal) Jennings, Joe Staebell, Jon (Karen) Staebell, and Jamie Staebell; his grandchildren Kari Jennings (Jason) Maurer, Kevin Jennings, Jonathan Staebell, and Jennifer Staebell; great-grandchildren Parker and Samuel Maurer; his sister, Margaret Rigney, brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Marilyn Staebell, and sister-in-law, Lil Staebell; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A special thank you to his mother-in-law (June Sime).
