Obituary
MIDDLETON- James V. Edsall, a WWII pilot, architect, world traveler and all around great guy, passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at HospiceCare, Inc. He was born on April 18, 1920 in Greenville, Mich., the son of Dorothy and Robert Edsall. Jim married Marian Stickney in 1943. He volunteered to go into the Royal Canadian Air Force, then transferred to the U.S. Air Force during WWII and served as a B-24 Bomber Pilot. Following the war, he attended the University of Illinois school of architecture and became a campus planner. In 1964, Jim transferred to UW-Madison as the director of planning and construction. He was asked to be a consultant to many universities in southeast Asia. Jim retired in 1983 and enjoyed international and domestic travel. He is survived by his wife, Marian of Middleton; daughter, Sandra (Dennis) Allen of Middleton; granddaughter, Maureen (Steve) Busalacchi; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Serena Busalacchi; and sister, Marge Wheeler. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Edsall; and sister, Susan O'Brien. A memorial service will be held at DON AND MARILYN ANDERSON HOSPICECARE CHAPEL, 5395 East Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, at 5:00 PM on Friday, December 17, 2010. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. A very special thank you to the staff at HospiceCare, Altera Sterling House and Oak Park on Century Ave. in Middleton for the care they gave Jim.
