Theresa 'Tess' Irene (Powers) Anderson

MADISON-Theresa "Tess" Irene (Powers) Anderson, age 67, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on March 9, 1943, the daughter of Edward and Ella (Braley) Powers. She graduated from East High School in 1961. She was a long-time employee for the State of Wisconsin. She retired from the Department of Financial Institutions in 2007, after over 25 years of service as a state employee. Tess loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, listening to Alan Jackson (she was one of his favorite fans), crocheting, playing bingo on Sunday afternoons, traveling, cooking and baking for her family and friends. Tess is survived by her children, Dean Anderson of Monona, Keith (Karen) Anderson of Medford, Julie (John) Cubbage of Stoughton, Eric Anderson of Stoughton, Melissa Alt of Racine; grandchildren, James Alt, Katelyn Brandtmeyer, Michael Cubbage, Joshua Alt, Sarah Cubbage, Jacob Nernberger and Emily Anderson; brother, Timothy (Margaret) Powers of Madison; sister, Patricia (Raymond) Louis of Barron; as well as, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, with Chaplain Timothy Jones presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. A special thanks to Edwina and Gene Emperuer, Tess closest and dearest friends.
