Katherine A. 'Kay' Henegar

EVANSTON, ILL/MCFARLAND- Katherine A. "Kay" Henegar, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Harmony Assisted Care in McFarland. She was born on March 22, 1920, in Magnolia, Ill. She attended nursing school in Cook County and after graduation followed her future husband, Dr. George Henegar to Oakland, Cali., where he was stationed with the Navy. They moved their family back to the Midwest and made the Chicago area their home. Katherine worked at King Home in Evanston, Ill., as the Director of Nursing for 15 years, then retired in 1996, from Oakwood Terrace also in Evanston, Ill. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting and traveling with her family. Katherine especially loved her trips back to California. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Stenson of San Diego, Calif.; son, George (Aina) Henegar of Kohler; daughter, Christine \"Tina\" (John) Lindgren of Evanston; daughter, Marsha (Michael Calvert) Henegar of Madison; three grandchildren, Christine \"Tina\" (David) Ross, Kathryn (Ryan) Mahoney and Nicholas Henegar; step grandchildren, Clare and Sam Calvert; great-grandchild, Nora Tigist Mahoney; special friend, Jim McClellan; and close family friend Paul Jhona. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Richard, Jack and James. In keeping with Kays wishes, no services will be held. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and friends at the Harmony Assisted Care of McFarland and HospiceCare Inc. for the care and love she received.
