Joseph Ivan LaBansky Jr.

STOUGHTON/ LONE ROCK- Joseph Ivan LaBansky, Jr., age 78, of Lone Rock, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at Stoughton Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1932, in La Farge, the son of Joseph and Violet (Bratvold) LaBansky, Sr. His family moved to the state of Oregon in 1932. Joe attended school in St. Louis, Oregon, until his family returned to Wisconsin in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea during the Korean War. Joe was awarded a purple heart and bronze star. He met Barbara Wells and they were married at St. Lukes Catholic Church in Woodburn, Oregon. Together they had 5 children. Barbara preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1978. Joe met Jeannie Manhart in Stoughton, and they were married at St. Anns Catholic Church on April 18, 1998. He worked at Oscar Mayer, Boeing and Curlys Dairy. Joe enjoyed being a pilot when he was with the Air National Guard in Oregon. He was an avid fisherman and Packers and Oregon Ducks fan. Joe is survived by his wife, Jeannie of Lone Rock; five children, Joseph, Jeffrey & Gara Lee LaBansky, Theresa (Chewy) Hernandez and Kimberly Kacelek; brother, Curtis (Laurel) LaBansky; sisters, Jean Keegan and Jeannette (Ray) Smithback; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; four step-children; and eight step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Barbara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 with Monsignor Gerard Healy presiding. Burial will take place at St. Lukes Catholic Cemetery in Woodburn, Oregon.
