Martin Wayne Lamphier

SUN PRAIRIE- Martin Marty Wayne Lamphier, age 46, of Sun Prairie, passed away unexpectedly at St. Marys Hospital, in Madison, on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010. Marty was born in Madison, on March 27, 1964, the son of James and Sharon (Cook) Lamphier. He attended St. Dennis Grade School, Sennett Middle School and LaFollette High School graduating in 1983. After high school, he enrolled in the Auto-Body Repair course at MATC. At the time of his death he owned and operated Rock Lake Paint & Repair in Lake Mills with his business partner, Brian Olson. Marty loved his work and specialized in custom painting, especially on motorcycles. His greatest pleasures were being with his children and riding his Harley. His bike was featured in the 2008 Capitol City Harley Davidson calendar, which made him very proud. Marty had many friends in the biking community and on several occasions traveled to Sturgis, South Dakota, to attend the annual rallies. Marty is survived by his son, Shane Coates and his mother, Terri of Madison; daughter, Taylor R. Lamphier and her mother, Lisa Alvarado of Sun Prairie; father, James E. Lamphier of Madison; and brothers, Edward L. Lamphier, his wife Keira and their daughter, Reese, and Brian D. Lamphier, his partner, James Proctor, and Brians children, Karley, Nicholas and Jay Cee. Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Sharon Lamphier. At his request, cremation will take place with a memorial service to be announced at a later date. Marty was a very giving person and even in death continued giving through the gift of organ donation. Visitation: A memorial visitation will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
