Obituary
Dye, William F. (Bill)
MADISON-There is great rejoicing above. On Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, William (Bill) Dye, age 98, reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret (Esser) Dye, who preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 2010. Bill was born on June 29, 1912, in Leeds Center. He was a graduate of Madison East High School and a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945. He married Margaret on his return from the war on Nov.17, 1945. He worked for 41 years for Webcrafter's, Inc. Bill was a member of VFW Post 8483, Knights of Columbus Council 531 and St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed fishing, bowling and golf. He served as President of the MBA in 1953-54 and earned several singles and team titles, including the ABC Seniors singles title in 1974 with a 657. He was inducted into the MBA Hall of Fame in 1977. He often golfed his age, which was easy by the time his age reached the 80's and 90's. He also had uncanny good luck. He could win a modest jackpot on the slot machines more often than most and was a master at Euchre, succeeding with hands of little more than two face cards. Most important, Bill shared Margaret's priorities - family, friends, faith and fun. In addition to Margaret, Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Fern J. Dye and Anna T. Dye (Fadness); and a sister, Almira Flint (Fay). He is survived by his sister, Alice Dodge (Jim); his two sons, Robert (Jean) Dye of Madison, and Richard (Joni) Dye of Madison; four grandchildren, James, Robert (Kristie), Daniel (Shary) and Kristen (John) Ehle; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda, Darin, Lilly, Klairissa, Bailey, Brooke, Lucas, Kirk and Jackson, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Jan.15, 2011, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens with military honors. In his last days, Bill received comfort and loving care from the staff at Chamomile Assisted Living II and from Leah and her team from Hospice. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Fitchburg, WI 53711.

Dear Bob and Jean,
You have been in our thoughts all day. We were with you in spirit. We do love hearing about his euchre prowess; makes us smile. My breakfast this morning was oatmeal with some very precious hickory nuts added. Here's to you, Bill! God bless you all.

Dear Bob and Kristie,
So very sorry for your loss. I am sorry I didn't get a chance to send this earlier but I was dealing with the loss of my son. Please take comfort in the fact that he enjoyed a long life. Lacey also sends her condolences.
