Obituary
MADISON-The Rev. David W. Roberts, age 73, of Madison, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. He was born on Jan. 30, 1938, the son of Royal and Genevieve (Browder) Roberts. David was united in marriage to Janet Smith on June 18, 1960. He attended Chicago Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1964. He served as pastor for United Church of Christ parishes in La Crosse, Brodhead, Dodgeville, and Prescott communities, retiring in January 2000. David lived with Parkinsons disease for more than 20 years. He was a man of deep faith with a large love for his family. David enjoyed traveling, especially back home to California. More recently he enjoyed traveling with friends from Oakwood Village East. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet; daughter, Kathryn (Tom) Kellen of Oregon; son, Jon (Kristina) Roberts of Aurora, Ill; daughter, Sarah Roberts; and four grandchildren, Jessica and Brittany Kellen, and Lara and Lidija Roberts. David was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Roberts. A Celebration of Life will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST, Tree of Life Chapel, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Parkinsons Disease Association or to the Oakwood Foundation.
