Obituary
Sierra, CarmenMADISON - Carmen Sierra, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011. She was born on July 4, 1924, in San Mateo Oaxaca, Mexico, the daughter of Martimiano and Juana (Rodriguez Navarro) Sierra. Carmen worked for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. for many years before her retirement and was very active at the Atwood Community Center. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was very strong in her Catholic faith. Carmen is survived by her three children, Jose Arturo, Rosario and Socorro Sierra; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Maria Carmen and Christina Sierra, both of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, with Father Bart Timmerman and Father Carmello Fonseca concelebrating. Burial will follow at Blooming Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., with Rosary Service at 5:45 p.m. and also from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at church. May she enjoy eternal rest.
Cemetery:
Burial will follow at Blooming Grove Cemetery.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., with Rosary Service at 5:45 p.m. and also from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at church.
