Loren D. 'Bud' Kowing

MADISON - Loren D. "Bud" Kowing, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Feb 23, 2011, at HospiceCare Inc. He was born on June 12, 1930, in Madison, the son of Frank P. and Rose (OBrien) Kowing. He married Janet Peterson on May 30, 1953. Loren was in the US Navy and Naval Reserves. He was Vice President at Windsor Homes Inc. until his retirement. Loren was a member at Bethel Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Richard (Janice) Kowing, Sharon (Kurt) Lucka, and Robert (Deanna) Kowing; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Gordon (Carol) Kowing; and special friends, Marv Hammes, Don Cosgrove and Darrell Havey. Loren was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Lorraine Olson; and brothers, Charles, Richard, Duane and Dallas. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, with the Rev. Laura Sutherland presiding. Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011.
