MADISON - Bernadine Ileen Mason Matson, age, 86, of Madison, passed away on March 17, 2011. She was born on June 17, 1924, in Waterloo, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (LaBounty) Wepking. Ileen was dedicated to serving the Lord. She was an avid quilter and a wonderful cook who enjoyed entertaining. Ileen is survived by her husband, David Matson; daughter, Theresa (Everett) Rice of Madison; two sons, Thomas Mason of Mount Horeb and Timothy Mason of Madison; and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ellis Mason; three grandchildren; brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011. Burial will follow at Blooming Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

It didn't take very long for me to see the true beauty in Ileen and to feel the genuine warmness in her heart. I enjoyed being near her. I was able to give her a kiss good-bye back in early January. I love you, Ileen. You're a treasure!

Ileen - you won my heart in such a short amount of time - I could see why our Dad loved you as he did. You hold such a special place in my heart - I grew to love you so much. You always had a sweet smile, a twinkle in your eye and I know that you had Jesus in your heart! I'm sort of a little jealous of you today! No more pain, no more suffering and to just think ... that first breath that you take as you open your eyes and you see your Heavenly Father reaching out His hand to you and saying "Welcome Home, Ileen - I've been waiting for you!!" WOW!! As that song goes, "I Can Only Imagine" You will be missed but we know that "It is well...." I love you Ileen and I'll "see you in the morning!!" You're a beautiful lady and I'm honored that God gave us you for a step-mom! (Dad says..."Jesus, please tell Momma that I love her still!!" Thought you might get a smile out of that!!)
