Fred Wirth

MADISON-Fred Wirth, age 90, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Wynwood Assisted Living, Madison. He was born on June 6, 1920, in Switzerland, the son of Fred and Rose (Stalder) Wirth. Fred was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ardys Schroeder on July 27, 1946 in St. Lukes Lutheran Church of Middleton. He worked with the Madison Metropolitan School District as the warehouse manager for 27 years. Fred was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, its Grumpy Old Men Group and had volunteered for Wheels for Winners for many years. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, fishing, and music, having the talent to play many different instruments. Fred was truly a family man, he always put his family first and treasured each moment spent playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Ardys of 65 years; a devoted daughter, Connie Evans of Madison; two grandchildren, Scott (Elizabeth) Evans of Janesville, Kimberly Johnson of Beaver Dam; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Alex and Corina Evans; a brother James (Kathy) Wirth; a sister Alice (LaVern) Gieck and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Rose Anne Kurtz and Martha Kurtz. A Celebration of Life service will be held at ST. LUKES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 with the Reverend Heather Lampert presiding. Burial will be in St. Lukes Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Lukes Lutheran Church or to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718-6941.
