Obituary
MADISON- Billie Jean (Abney) Blair died on Saturday, April 2, 2011, after an extended illness while residing at Karmenta Nursing Home. Billie was born to William Houston Abney and Elizabeth (Payne) Abney on June 27, 1925 in Waco Texas. She survived the great polio epidemic in the 1930s, spending over a year in an iron lung. She met and married her husband George Blair in Waco, and then lived in a variety of cities and states while her husband was in the Air Force. George and Billie settled in Madison. After retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, Billie and George moved to Arkansas. Following the death of her husband Billie moved back to the Madison area. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother (William T. Abney), and a daughter, Linda Sundberg. She is survived by sons Jim (Pat) Blair, Ron Blair, Ed (JoAnn) Blair, David Blair, and Paul (Debbie) Blair. She is further survived by Son in law Steve Sundberg, grandchildren Lissa Sundberg, Zach (Hillary) Blair, Andrew Blair, Joe Blair, Clay Blair, Matt Blair, Jeanine Gibson, Roseanne Gibson, and Sarah Gibson Blair. She is also survived by great granddaughter Aleana Gibson. In keeping with Billies wishes, a private family service will be held. The family wished to thank the staff of Karmenta, Dr. Paul Wertsch of Wildwood Clinic, and Hospice Care. Memorials in Billies name may be sent to Dane County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
