Dorothy L. 'Dot' Gratiot

Gratiot, Dorothy L. "Dot"MADISON-Dorothy L "Dot" Gratiot, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 13, 1924, in Madison, the daughter of Emory and Viola Gesme. She was united in marriage to Russell Gratiot on June 28, 1943, in Salina, Kan. Dorothy began her career selling shoes in Texas and Colorado, then returned to the Madison area. She worked into her 80's, the last 30 plus years at Hilldale. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, skiing, listening to live music, and dancing at the New Glarus Hotel. She also took pleasure in vacationing with family to her favorite places, Devil's Lake, Door County, Upper Michigan, Eagle River, Texas and Canada. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Russell; children, Marc (Nancy), and Tammie (Nick) Mannarino; grandchildren, Melissa and Ashley Teela; and two sisters-in-law, LaVonne McCosh and Jo Gesme. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Gordon Gesme. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 18, 2011. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at HospiceCare Inc., and Wisconsin Heart, Dr. Bellissimo, and especially Julie and Deb at the AC clinic. Thanks also to Dr. Richard DeWitt, and Julie at Edwards Salon for the many years of service. We love you, we will miss you, and you will always be with us as we continue our journey in life.
