Obituary

Johnson, LauriSTOUGHTON-Lauri Johnson, age 74, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, at Skaalen Home in Stoughton. She was born on April 3,1937 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Vernon and Alice Madsen of Ellison Bay. Lauri was a mother and housewife and truly loved Mother Earth and all of God's creatures. She loved the mighty ships that sailed the Great Lakes, and the lighthouses that brought them home safely. She enjoyed and wrote beautiful poetry throughout her life and was gifted in gardening, and the creation of beautiful ceramic pieces. Lauri is survived by her brother, Roger (Linda) Madsen; children, Layne Madsen, Lisa (Jeff) Holden, Denyse (Larry) Stoneman, Renee (Bob) Haines, Stacey (Britt) Gardner, Pete (Julie) Johnson, and Lauri Lehr. She is also survived by her niece, Annie (Michael) Knudson; nephew, Jimmy Kim; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her loving caretakers at Skaalen Home, who provided her with so much love, and who she considered her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bert Johnson and Richard Huisman; brother, Gordon; sister, Shirley; and son, Keith Quandt.Memorial services will be held at SKAALEN CHAPEL, 400 N. Morris Street, Stoughton, at 1 p.m., on Thursday, April 14, 2011, with the Rev. James Koza and Chaplain David Brynelson presiding. Visitation will be at the chapel from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation. Lauri was ready to "go home" to her Savior, and all of the loved ones who passed before her. Rest peacefully and know that we will think of you every time we read a poem, see a butterfly, a hummingbird or a lighthouse. Your undying love will remain with us always. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation. Visitation: Visitation will be at the chapel from noon until the time of the service.
