Thelma Nelson

LODI - Thelma A. Nelson, age 100, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Lodi Good Samaritan Center. Thelma was born in Lodi on May 15, 1910, the daughter of Theo and Ada (Lind) Johnson. She attended Lodi Public Schools and was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church. Thelma was married to Ludolph Nelson on May 12, 1932. They farmed in the Lodi area for many years before moving to Lodi in 1963. Surviving are three sons, Darrell (Darlene) of Brodhead, Wallace (Jane) of Bella Vista, AR, and Duane (Lois) of Madison; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ludolph in 1982; her parents; sisters, Myrtle Nelson, Agnes Towne and Irma Thompson; brothers, Theelien and Harold Johnson; and granddaughter, Gerene Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH in Lodi, with the Rev. Michael Lee officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the service at the church. Interment will be at County Line Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to First Lutheran Church or to the Lodi Good Samaritan Center. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staffs at the Lodi Good Samaritan Center and Our House Assisted Living for their care during these last years of Thelma's life.
