Donald O. 'Don' Halverson

OREGON- Donald O. Don Halverson, age 74, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at HospiceCare Inc in Fitchburg. He was born on June 30, 1936, in Richland Center, the son of Clarence and Maurine (Jewett) Halverson. Don married Janet Jacobson on May 9, 1964 at Hope Lutheran Church in McFarland. He was a service rep. for Castle Company from 1968 until 1999. Don also worked with the Air National Guard for 13 years at Truax Field. During the 1950s and 60s, he worked on Ron Erfurths race team. Don was a 32nd degree Mason and former president of the Oregon Band Boosters where he was known as Pa Halverson He enjoyed going to Angell Park Speedway for many years. Don is survived by his two children, Jodi (Paul) Huston of Oregon and Eric (Brenda) Halverson of Madison; four grandchildren, James Halverson, Samantha, Timothy and Jacob Huston; a brother, Frederick Halverson; very special sister-in-law, Jane Shaub; and many nieces, nephew, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; son, Dale; and brother Melvin. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011, with the Rev. Patrick Siegler presiding. Burial will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., Visitation will also be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
