MADISON-Francis Cliff Clifton Jr. , age 65, lost his brief battle with cancer on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the HospiceCare in Fitchburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 27, 1945, in Madison.He graduated in 1964, from Madison East High School. He spent most of his life in Madison and Milwaukee, with the exception of the time he lived in Florida where he gave his children fond memories while he was employed at Disney World. Cliff spent many years as a personal attendant providing in-home care.Cliff had a great love for his city of Madison and knew a tremendous amount of facts that he enjoyed sharing with anyone and everyone. His use of the Madison Metro bus system, his friendships with drivers and riders, contributed to his vast knowledge of the city and provided him an audience to share the trivia.Cliffs interests include; anything relating to the 1950s, vintage cars (especially Pontiac GTOs and Star Chief), collecting, reminiscing and most of all the casino trips he loved to take with his mother. Recently discovered was his taste for grape popsicles. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Francis Rusty (Brenda) Clifton, III of Sun Prairie and Darcy (Janet) Clifton of Evansville; his grandchildren, Zachary and Isabella; step-grandaughters, Kimberly and Angela; his mother, Violet Vi Myers of Madison; his siblings, Glenn (Carla) Myers of Waunakee, Nancy (Mike) White of Sun Prairie, Steve (Shari) Myers of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Suzi (Shawn) Shaub of Madison; two step-brothers, Dick (Sheila) Myers and Warren Tom Myers, both of Spokane, Wash.; his uncle, Dick Grunert; many cousins; nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and his life-long friend, Sharon (Gabe) Grosz.He was preceded in death by his beloved infant daughter, Julie Marie Clifton; his grandparents; his Dad, Warren Myers; special aunt, Shirley Hanevold; his uncle, Robert Grunert; and his aunt, Lorraine Allen.Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. The family would like to thank the staff at HospiceCare, St. Marys Hospital, Stoughton Hospital and especially Dr. Schueller of Dean Care and Dr. Jones of St. Marys for their compassion and care provided to Cliff.He aint heavy, hes my brother. Cemetery: Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation: Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Service: Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011.

I still can't believe Cliff has passed. We miss him so much and pray that God keeps him in his loving arms. Cliff - Mom misses you so much and is struggling to understand why you were taken from her at such a young age. But, she knows that you would want her to continue on and to enjoy life and let the rest of the family take care of her. I will miss you always. With love from your "Little Sister", Nancy

My Uncle Cliff left me with many memories. He was such a character and everyone remembered meeting him. He had silly stories, corny jokes and funny anecdotes and you never knew what kind of a conversation you might get into with him. He taught me a lot, and some of it my parents probably didn't appreciate! He taught me how to miss busses, eat junk food, and watch scary movies. But one thing he taught me was to have fun. Uncle Cliff you will be missed, and no one's birthday will go by without me thinking of you. I'll make sure to eat extra cake just for you too! Love, Shanna Lee

The thing about Cliff that I will always remember is his knowledge of Madison and how much he loved telling me facts about my new home and ways to get around here. My dad often spoke of his memories of playing with his first nephew,sharing a love of classic cars and things of the fifties. He is greatly missed.

Here we are two and half years later; although the pain is not as intense, it is certainly still here. Mom misses Cliff so much, but knows he is guarding her and keeping her safe. We all miss you and thank you for being the person you were. Love again, Nanc

Wow Cliff, almost 7 years have gone by since we lost you. I thank you for all of the 'signs' that is hear and see, just letting me know that you are still around! I can hear 'Unchained Melody' now and smile, not fall apart. Thank you for guiding Mom on her way almost 3 years ago. I hope you, Mom and Dad are all happy and smiling down on all of us.
