Gerald A. 'Jerry' Corey

Corey, Gerald A. "Jerry"MADISON-Gerald A. "Jerry" Corey, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at HospiceCare after a short battle with cancer. He was born on June 25, 1937, in Menominee, Mich., the son of Allen and Elvira (Anderson) Corey. Jerry graduated from Stephenson High School in Stephenson, Mich., in 1955. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 until 1959, stationed in Puerto Rico during the Bay of Pigs. Jerry was united in marriage to Sue Madden on Nov. 4, 1961, in Neenah. He owned a Tombstone Pizza distributorship in southeastern Wisconsin for about 10 years. Jerry was then a Madison Metro driver, retiring in 2001. He loved nature, traveling and photography. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Auby; two granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth; sister, Alice (Burle) Carrigan of Ankeny, Iowa; brother, Alvin (Judy) Corey of White Cloud, Mich.; eight nieces and nephews; former wife, Sue Corey of Stoughton; and special friend, Deb Christiansen. He was preceded in death by his parents. At Jerry's request, a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Jerry's name to Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
