Ireta Ryan

MADISON - Ireta 'Rita' Ryan, age 79, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born on June 3, 1931 the daughter of Wayne and Sadie (Patterson) Padley and she grew up in Lodi. On June 10, 1950 she was united in marriage to Delbert 'Del' Ryan and they later moved to Madison where they raised their family. Rita enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, boating, trips up north, and always cheering on the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. As an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church she taught Catechism, served fish fries and assisted with other functions. Rita retired from CUNA Mutual Insurance after 24 years. We are very proud of Mom for taking such great care of Dad in his later years and for her strength and determination to recover and live life after her stroke in 2003. She is survived by her four children, Mark, Marcia (Joe) DiPiazza, Nick (Cathy) and Barbara; four granddaughters, Lisa DiPiazza, Angie (Josh) Frehner, Gina (Brad) Guettel and Jessica (Michael) Bencriscutto; seven great-grandchildren, Tressa, Tony, Payton, Julia, Owen, Lyla and Ella; two brothers, Howard (Alice) and Dick (Joan) Padley; brother-in-law, Don Manke; and sister-in-law, Bev Padley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del; her parents, two sisters, Dorothy (Ralph) Ullring and Carol Manke; two brothers, Wayne (Louise) and Donovan Padley; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Padley. In accordance with Rita's wishes, a Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011, Ritas 80th birthday, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, in Madison, with Monsignor Donn Heiar officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.. until the Mass at the church. A private graveside service will be held at St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery in Lodi. Memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or to Oakwood Village would be appreciated. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff members at Meriter Hospital and Oakwood Village.
