David E. 'Chopper' Hron

MADISON- David E. "Chopper" Hron, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at HospiceCare, following a lengthy fight with cancer. He was born on Oct. 31, 1949, in Madison, the son of Eugene J. And Jane E. (Schott) Hron. David served his country in the U.S. Marines with two tours, in Vietnam from 1968 until 1974, receiving three purple hearts. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2006, after more than 30 years of service. David was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing, especially walleye fishing tournaments. David was also an avid Packers and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed dog and horse racing at Ho-Chunk. David also enjoyed fixing things around the house. He is survived by his mother, Jane Hron of Madison; son, Travis (Lori) Johnson of Peachtree City, Ga.; grandchildren, Leah, Haley, and Liam Johnson; brothers, Dennis Hron of Windsor, Dan (Jane) Hron of Corvalis, Mont., and Dale Hron of Madison; nephew, Jeff (Candi) Hron of DeForest; and step-nephews, David and Dan (Cindi) Hotchkiss and their families of Missoula, Mont. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Hron in 1998; nephew, Gregory Hron in 1994; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Hron in 2010. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Inurnment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Davids name to HospiceCare, Inc. 5395 E.
