John Palkovic

LODI -John Joseph Palkovic, born July 4, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, died Sunday, July 17, 2011. His wife is Gloria Bagley Palkovic. Their children are Karen Palkovic Ransone, Mary Palkovic Breslin, Michael Palkovic, Therese Palkovic, Joseph Palkovic, John A Palkovic, Anne Palkovic Mellet, Jean Palkovic Manthe, James Palkovic, and Angele Palkovic Wamsley; 27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marie Antony. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Agnes (Masarik) Palkovic; and his brother, Richard. John attended Ohio State University and graduated in Chemical Engineering in 1952. He served in the US Navy before completing his degree at Ohio State. John made rosaries for over forty years. He was Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered at Good Samaritan, St. Vincent de Paul, and read for the children in Lodi Elementary School. He was a president of the Library in Henry, Illinois. He loved his grandchildren, and he and Gloria loved to dance. His family and friends will miss him very much. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Lodi, with Fr. Paul Fagan officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the mass at the church.
