Elizabeth F. 'Betty' Smith

Smith, Elizabeth F. \"Betty\" MADISON-Elizabeth F. \"Betty\" Smith, age 88, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Hyland Park Assisted Living. She was born on February 5, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Butler) Corcoran. She married Clayton Smith, in Seattle, Wash., on April 16, 1943. They moved to Beloit, Wis. for two years and then moved to Madison where she worked for a short time at Copps, Monona Pharmacy and Carol\'s Clothing Store. Betty enjoyed watching Packer football, golf and enjoyed people watching. She was a member of VFW Post No. 7591 auxillary and the Elks Club No. 2656. She and Clayton loved camping, golf, card clubs, square dancing and enjoyed traveling to Arizona and Hawaii. Betty is survived by her three sons, Bob (Lynda) of Sparta, Clayton Jr. \"Butch\" (Donna) of Cottage Grove, and Dan (Barb) of Janesville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Hannah and Marge; two brothers-in-law, Howard Alden (Ginger) Smith of Lake Charles, La., and Leonard Smith of Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton; six brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, with Hospice Chaplain Val Cappozzo presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
